Dear Colleague:
I am pleased to announce production of CHI’s 4th Annual Patient Recruitment in Clinical Trials: Effectively Planning and Managing Recruitment and Retention being held February 8-9, 2011 at the Westin Colonnade Coral Gables in Miami, FL.
The gathering will once again be co-located with the Summit for Clinical Trials Operations Executives (SCOPE), a three-day cluster of events that attracted over 300 leaders in clinical operations and research in March 2010. CHI’s Patient Recruitment will be preceded by the Global Site Selection, Feasibility Assessment, Operations and Site Management and Drug Development Latin America conferences. Please see the program map below for 2011.
Patient recruitment and retention are critical to drug development programs. Patient recruitment, if not adequately planned for, can extend your development timeline by a number of years. Retention of patients throughout the life of a clinical trial is essential in order have complete data sets for your analysis and subsequent filings. In order to optimize both you have to have a plan. This conference is intended to cover the topics one should consider when drafting and strategically implementing a patient recruitment and retention plan for a clinical development program. Topics to be discussed:
Designing and implementing a clinical enrollment plan: Strategy development, plan implementation and contingency planning
Planning to market and enroll patients outside of the US? What country specific requirements should you be aware of
Identification and selection of investigators: Sponsor expectations; investigator expectations; do they really have the patients?
Maximization of patient recruitment and enrollment: Centralized versus site-based recruiting, marketing/advertising, call centers, outreach strategies, staff training
Benchmarking: Are you achieving your recruitment goals?
Planning for recruitment with adaptive trial designs
Recruitment of special populations
The art and science of site management: Communication pathways, data discrepancy resolution, site payments
Enhancing patient compliance and retention
Utilizing new social media and Web 2.0 technologies to facilitate the new paradigm of patient-centered trials
Leveraging social media for clinical trial recruitment: Social networks and emerging technologies to accelerate clinical trial recruitment
Case studies: Effectively utilizing patient recruitment service providers
Comprehensive clinical trial promotion: Effective scientific communications, health PR, and social marketing
